PEAK ALERT SERVICE                POLICY 5.006

AVAILABILITY

Available on an optional basis to all consumers with average maximum billing demand greater than or equal to 50 kW but less than 250 kW.  Mandatory for all consumers with average maximum billing demand greater than or equal to 250 kW.  Service under this schedule requires the execution of an Electric Service Agreement between the Cooperative and the Consumer and is subject to all policies of the Cooperative.

TYPE OF SERVICE

Service at 120/240 volts single phase and 120/208 or 277/480 volts three phase grounded wye.  Motors shall not exceed 260 amps inrush current for single phase and 450 amps at 120/208 volts for three-phase without prior consent of the Cooperative. All three phase equipment shall be protected for loss of phase.  The Consumer will be responsible for installation cost of the metering package required for service under this schedule and must provide connection to a telephone line to allow the Cooperative access to metering data as needed.

RATES

Service Charge                                     $150.00 per month

Maximum Demand Charge                   $7.00 per kW per month

Seasonal Peak Period Demand Charges (see explanation below)

Summer Season                                   $71.80 per kW

Winter Season                                     $32.60 per kW

Energy Charge                                          5.4 cents per kWh

TAXES
Consumer bills for service under this schedule are subject to any applicable taxes.

SEASONAL PEAK PERIOD BILLING DEMAND

The summer season is defined as the months of June, July and August.  The winter season is defined as the months of December, January and February.  The Seasonal Billing Demand shall equal the average of the measured 60-minute demand periods of the consumer that are coincident with the wholesale power supplier’s billing demand readings during the summer and winter seasons.  The Cooperative will bill the Seasonal Demand Charges on a pro-rated monthly basis.

NOTIFICATION OF PEAK PERIODS
The consumer shall be alerted to potential peak periods at least one-half hour in advance of the potential peak period.  The Cooperative shall not be liable for any losses or damages resulting from load reductions or transfers of load to on-site generating equipment made by the consumer.

MAXIMUM BILLING DEMAND
The maximum billing demand shall be the maximum kilowatt (kW) demand established by the consumer for any period of 60 minutes during the month for which the bill is rendered.

POWER FACTOR ADJUSTMENT
The Cooperative at its own discretion may elect to implement a power factor adjustment on the consumer’s billing demand.  The billing demand may be adjusted for billing purposes by the maximum measured demand multiplied by the standard power factor of 95 percent lagging and the result divided by the average power factor for the month.

POWER COST ADJUSTMENT PROVISION
The above rates are subject to adjustment due to increases or decreases in wholesale purchased power costs.   

TERMS OF PAYMENT
The Summer and Winter Seasonal Peak Period Demand Charges shall be payable with the monthly billings.

The net amount stated on the bill is due on the specified due date each month.  If this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date is the next business day.  The gross amount is due if payment is not received by the due date.  The gross amount includes a late payment charge of 1.5% of the total amount due.
